Katrina Kaif , Salman Khan |
"Katrina and Imran are coming together in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and one look at the promo pretty much gives an impression that the film is paying a homage to Salman in a big way", comments an observer, "Though Imran has nothing to do with Salman in the film, both from characterisation as well as mannerisms perspective, he has picked up quite a few bits from 'dabangg' Khan's personality, something that Katrina won't be able to miss."
One such incident in the film is as blatant as it gets where Imran, when challenged by Katrina on his 'dum', mouths Salman's ever-so-memorable dialogue 'Ek Baar Jo Maine Commitment Kar Di'. This isn't all as he even copies Salman's dance steps at more than just one place.
"While there is this famous 'towel-under-the-legs' dance step from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi being repeated here, what takes the cake is 'jiggy-your-belt-around-the-waist' step from Dabangg", the observer continues, "Incidentally, the latter has Katrina joining Imran as well where they all collectively get into the Salman mode. Seems like she too didn't mind doing this for screen even though, it is quite obvious that in a way, she too is acknowledging the star-power of Salman."
Though some also feel whether this is Yash Raj Films' way of keeping Salman happy since he is working with them for the first time, others feel that this is all in good fun and no one would mind that eventually.
"You may call it homage or a tribute but such things are common in the industry", says a filmmaker, "Every other actor tries to ape Shah Rukh's dance steps. In fact recent release Double Dhamaal was one long extended back handed compliment where practically the entire industry was referred to in some way or the other. However what makes it seem so blatant inMere Brother Ki Dulhan is the fact that there is Katrina involved and the only superstar who is being referred to is Salman.
Going by her ex-pressions, she doesn't seem to be minding it one bit though."
Well, isn't that the reason why they are called actors in the first place?
