Singtel Grid Girls 2011

She is still learning to drive but Ms Altai Uni Enkhrel, 20, has already clinched a chance to get up close and personal with some Formula One drivers and their slick cars.
She was among the Top 12 SingTel Grid Girls selected to be at the starting line of the 2011 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix on Sept 25. They were chosen from more than 500 applicants.
Ms Altai, a Singapore permanent resident from Mongolia, said: "I'm looking forward to meeting the drivers but I mostly want to get close to the cars."
The self-confessed Fernando Alonso fan added: "I really want to see how the cars operate up close, rather than on TV."
She will begin a degree in banking and finance under a programme offered by the SIM Global Education-University of London late next month.
She was spotted – twice at two different nightspots – by talent scouts engaged by the organisers of this year's F1 night race.
Another Grid Girl, Ms Tabitha Loke, 20, said she signed up to be a SingTel Grid Girl at the "very last minute" after being coaxed by a former colleague.
Her friend failed to make the cut, but Ms Loke sailed through all three stages of judging to join the final line-up.
The Red Bull Racing fan hopes to meet German F1 driver Sebastian Vettel. She said: "I really want to meet him because he's the best driver but still relatively new to the racing scene. I want to find out what motivates him so much."
The Top 12 SingTel Grid Girls were officially unveiled yesterday at an event held at One Fullerton, after a long search which started in April this year.
In the lead-up to race day, they will compete in various challenges for a chance to be one of the top three Grid Girls, who will win cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $3000 respectively.
