India's premier pacer left the field with a hamstring strain, earlier believed to be cramps, while bowling his 14th over on Thursday. He came into the tour having bowled just 69 overs in the calendar year.
The visitors will have only Praveen Kumar and Ishant Sharma to go to for pace and seam options on a day that is expected to continue to assist movement despite the cloud cover clearing over London.
